My name is Leo, and I have a secret: my treehouse has a ladder that goes straight into the clouds. Not the fluffy rain clouds, but the bouncy, marshmallow ones where the Cloud-Hoppers live. Cloud-Hoppers look like tiny, neon-blue hamsters with wings, and they love playing soccer with things humans drop from airplanes.Yesterday, I lost my favorite neon-orange lucky sock. I knew exactly where it went. It had flown right off my foot while I was swinging too high in the backyard. So, I grabbed my goggles and climbed up to the Cloud Kingdom. When I arrived, the sky was filled with a loud SQUEAK! A massive tournament was happening. And right in the middle of the Great Stratosphere Field was my orange sock, stuffed with cotton candy to make it round. The Cloud-Hoppers were using it as a championship ball!I couldn't just snatch it back. Their captain, a spunky hopper named Barnaby, flew down and challenged me. 'If you want your foot-sweater back, human,' he squeaked, 'you must defeat us in a penalty shootout!'I took my position in front of the vapor-nets. Barnaby zoomed forward, kicking the sock-ball with a massive spin. It looped through a rainbow and zipped right toward my head! I dove to the left, caught the sticky sock in both hands, and tumbled into a soft patch of fog.The stadium went dead silent, then erupted into tiny, high-pitched cheers. Barnaby flew over and shook my thumb. 'A fair victory!' he declared. They let me keep the sock, and they even threw in a jar of stardust jam as a trophy. Now, my lucky sock smells like blueberries and fresh rain, and I never wear it near the swing set anymore.
