Leslie Mcfarlane

Leslie McFarlane was a Canadian journalist and novelist who played a major role in shaping early mystery literature for young readers. Working for the Stratemeyer Syndicate, he was the original writer behind many of the earliest Hardy Boys books, publishing under the pen name Franklin W. Dixon. He established the thrilling tone, cliffhanger pacing, and character dynamics that defined the adventures of Frank and Joe Hardy. His writing helped turn the series into a fixture of children's publishing.
