Two devoted sisters, Snow-White and Rose-Red, live a peaceful, happy life in a cozy cottage with their widowed mother. While Rose-Red loves running through the sunny meadows, Snow-White prefers sitting quietly by the warm fire. One freezing winter evening, a massive, terrifying black bear knocks fiercely on their door, begging for shelter from the brutal cold. Overcoming their initial fear, the girls welcome the gentle giant inside, and he quickly becomes their playful, trusted winter companion. When spring arrives, the bear must leave to guard his hidden treasures from the wicked, thieving dwarfs who emerge from the thawing earth. Soon after, the sisters encounter a furious, ungrateful little dwarf whose long white beard keeps getting dangerously trapped in fishing lines, fallen trees, and eagle talons. Even though the girls repeatedly save his life, he repays them with insults.
