Being sent to a retirement community while your parents go on a fabulous vacation sounds like a complete disaster. Alex is definitely not thrilled about tagging along to his grandma's boring bridge games or looking at his grandpa's dentures. He spends his days writing desperate messages begging to come home. But as the week goes on, something surprising happens. The boring bridge games are replaced with ice cream before dinner, and soon Alex is playing stickball with his grandpa. Through a series of hilarious letters, Alex discovers that spending time at Happy Hills Retirement Community is actually a lot of fun, and grandparents are much cooler than he ever realized.
