Hildilid absolutely hates the dark, shadowy night. She lives high in the hills of Hexham, and she is determined to get rid of the darkness once and for all. Armed with her broom, a pot of boiling water, and a lot of frantic energy, she tries every single trick she can think of to chase the night away from her tiny cottage.
You will laugh at her increasingly ridiculous attempts to sweep, scrub, and even tie up the darkness. She works so incredibly hard fighting the shadows that by the time the bright morning sun finally peaks over the hills, she is entirely exhausted. It is a beautifully illustrated, funny folk tale about a very stubborn woman and the peaceful rest she finally finds.
