Karen Newman has a plan. She just needs to get her parents into the same room so they can remember how much they love each other. Because if they do, then they will not get a divorce. To a sixth grader, the idea of her family breaking apart feels completely impossible to accept. Karen tries everything she can think of to fix the situation, believing that she can somehow reverse their decision and put her broken home back together. But as her parents continue to argue and the reality of the divorce sets in, Karen realizes that her perfect plan might not work. With the help of a new friend who has been through the exact same thing, Karen slowly begins to understand that families can look different and still be okay.
