The greedy headmaster of Dragon Slayers' Academy, Mordred, has discovered a pot of gold is the grand prize in the All-Schools Brain-Power Tournament. Naturally, he immediately signs up Wiglaf, Erica, and Angus to represent the school. If they lose, Mordred threatens to throw them to a hungry dragon. The pressure is high, but the team faces a major obstacle before the contest even begins. They are stuck with the obnoxious, know-it-all Bragwort as their team captain. He refuses to listen to anyone else, making it nearly impossible to prepare for the difficult questions ahead. To make matters worse, they are up against the incredibly snobbish Knights Noble Conservatory team, who seem to know every answer. Wiglaf and his friends must figure out a way to work together, beat the clock, and outsmart their wealthy rivals to win the tournament and avoid becoming dragon food.
