The Great Depression has made life in 1934 incredibly tough for Kit Kittredge and her family. Their Cincinnati boardinghouse is full, and the newest arrival is the most difficult boarder yet. Kit's cantankerous Uncle Hendrick has come to stay, and he is determined to make everyone miserable. He forces Kit to run his errands and type out his endless, complaining letters to the local newspaper editor. You know how frustrating it is when someone constantly focuses on the negative while everyone else is trying so hard to survive. But typing those gloomy letters sparks a brilliant idea in Kit's mind. She realizes the newspaper needs to hear a different perspective about the hardships families are facing. Watch as Kit grabs her typewriter and finds her own powerful voice, proving that even a young girl's words can inspire change and bring hope to a struggling city.
