When Sam the Owl wakes up in the middle of the night, he is looking for a friend to play with. Soon, he meets Gus, a glowing firefly who can draw amazing lines of light in the dark sky. Sam loves following Gus as he spells out words in the air. But Gus soon discovers that his glowing words can play tricks on the people below. He starts causing huge traffic jams and confusing airplanes with his tricky signs. When Gus accidentally gets caught by an angry hot dog vendor, he ends up in a very dangerous situation on the train tracks. Now, it is up to Sam to save his glowing friend and help Gus use his special talent to fix his mistakes.
