Three completely different kids are about to share the most disastrous school day of their lives. Maxie, Rosie, and Earl have absolutely nothing in common. Maxie is a genius who is a little too smart for his own good. Rosie is a notorious tattletale who cannot keep a secret to save her life. And Earl is a nervous wreck who cannot stop laughing whenever he has to read out loud in class. But when all three students find themselves sitting outside the principal's office in total disgrace, they realize they might share a connection after all. Just as they are bracing themselves for the worst punishment imaginable, the school fire alarm suddenly blares. Panicked and desperate to escape their doom, the three unlikely allies make a run for the exit doors and dive straight into the school dumpster.
