Grandfather Bear is certain his two little visitors are perfect. He tucks the cubs into bed, settles downstairs with his book, and proudly imagines a peaceful night with no trouble at all. The joke is that readers can see what Grandfather Bear cannot: pillows fly, jam disappears, and two supposedly sleepy cubs are far busier than he thinks. The fun comes from watching the words and pictures tell different stories at the same time.
