Rabbit is very excited and quietly whispers a secret to his good friend Owl: he is having a surprise party tomorrow. Owl turns to Squirrel and passes the message along, but he gets the words slightly mixed up. By the time the secret travels from Squirrel to Duck, to Mouse, to Fox, and finally to Frog, the original message has completely changed into something ridiculous. Frog actually believes that Rabbit will be spending his afternoon reading poetry to a tree! When Rabbit finally announces the real event to the group, everyone is genuinely shocked. This highly amusing story beautifully demonstrates how easily words can get tangled up when passed from person to person.
