Every autumn, the busy squirrels of the forest sail across the water to Owl Island to gather delicious nuts for the winter. While his brother Twinkleberry and the other squirrels politely offer gifts to Old Brown the owl, Squirrel Nutkin has a completely different plan. Nutkin is bouncy, cheeky, and absolutely refuses to work. Instead of gathering food, he dances around and teases the old owl with endless, silly riddles. Day after day, the other squirrels work hard while Nutkin continues his mischievous games, completely ignoring the danger of testing the patience of a very large, very quiet owl.
