Lala is the most talented krinkle-nut digger in her entire underground community, but she spends her days dreaming of a different life. Deep down in her dark cave, she wishes she could wear sparkling dresses, attend elegant parties, and live like the three beautiful princesses in the towering castle far above. Determined to experience the royal life, Lala bravely climbs up to the surface and sneaks into the castle to try on a gorgeous gown. But when the princesses catch her, they decide to play a cruel trick on the little monster at a grand ball. After stumbling and being laughed at, Lala has to make a difficult choice about forgiveness and belonging. She discovers that true happiness and feeling like a real princess might just be waiting for her back home in the dark.
