AI Use Statement
Where KRKB uses AI assistance today, what it is meant to do, and where teachers, librarians, families, and KRKB admins still stay in the loop.

AI-supported moderation
KRKB uses AI-assisted checks for reader-created content such as reviews, stories, quizzes, club topics, comments, profile content, and usernames. These checks are designed to flag profanity, bullying, personal information, mature themes, unsafe links, spam, and content that needs coaching before it appears in the community.
AI output supports moderation status and feedback. KRKB also provides teacher, librarian, and KRKB admin review tools for content that needs attention.
Astra guide and product help
Astra is KRKB’s site guide. Astra can answer questions, help users find pages, and suggest next steps. Astra can also trigger approved navigation actions such as opening Book Explorer, Parent Portal, KRKB Setup, School/Library Plan, Procurement Packet, or Setup + Rollout Materials.
Parents can review Astra-related controls where account linking supports it. Astra should not be treated as a teacher, librarian, legal advisor, or emergency support channel.
What KRKB does not currently use AI for
KRKB does not use AI to assign official grades.
KRKB does not use AI to make final school disciplinary decisions.
KRKB does not use AI to decide whether a school or library can buy a plan.
Configured AI providers
KRKB’s current AI configuration includes model providers such as Google Gemini, Groq, OpenAI, and xAI/Grok for different moderation, cataloging, and Astra tasks. The exact provider used can vary by task and fallback configuration. For procurement review, use the subprocessor page and contact KRKB for the current vendor summary.
